Keller Williams UK commit to the Armed Forces

KWUK are providing a specific focus on helping those who serve or have served in the armed forces of the Crown and their families.

KWUK will be supporting and promoting armed forces events, such as armed forces week, reserves day, the Poppy appeal and remembrance activities.

KWUK are committed to developing an armed forces network to enable entrepreneurs with a forces connection to meet, support one another and provide feedback as to how KWUK can best support veterans.

Ben Taylor, CEO of Keller Williams UK said: “I am delighted to commit KWUK and to ensure that we do everything we can to provide respect, support and fair treatment to those that have fulfilled their duty to everyone in defence of the realm.

It is important to ensure that members of the armed forces community do not face disadvantages arising from their service in the provision of public and commercial services. In some circumstances special provision may be justified, especially for those who have given most, such as the injured or bereaved.

We have appointed Paul Renton, KWUK Director of Growth & Development and an RAF veteran, as Armed Forces Champion within KWUK and we will be developing a specific network to support veterans including a dedicated KW Armed Forces page on our website.

We will encourage and support veterans seeking a career to explore working with KWUK through specific mentoring schemes, guaranteed interviews and work insight days.”

Case Study: The Wraggs

Case Study: The Wraggs

With over 20 years’ experience in the property industry, Sue Wragg launched her own business powered with KWUK in 2020 – and after seeing early success brought her husband George on board as her business partner. The pair are now valued local property experts in their home village of Rossington and the nearby City of Doncaster, enjoying the success and flexibility of running their own real estate business. The success and models of KW allow the entrepreneurial couple to earn twice the industry standard commission rate when selling client’s home – such is the attention to detail and level of service they offer.

It all began when Sue was made aware of the opportunity with KW by a contact who was an existing Team Leader with a Market Centre. Having always wanted to run her own property business but put off by the pricey technology and platform fees, the opportunity to launch with KW’s assistance and support was in her words, “a no brainer!”. To start off with, Sue continued working with her large, corporate employer whilst she put things in place to launch, but after being asked to return to an office, mid-pandemic, she decided enough was enough and the time was now.

“Neither George nor I are risk takers. He was a military man for 34 years and I was always in full-time employment with large real estate agencies or housebuilders. But I was confident that this was my opportunity to fulfil my dream of having my own estate agency business. And the tools and support offered by Keller Williams made it an easy decision.”

Fast forward to May 2023, and growth has been exponential, particularly since committing to the models, training and advice shared by local leadership:

“The team at KW Plus guided us to use the 411-productivity tool and held us accountable – which has been fundamental to our success. We were enjoying good results prior to this year, but since implementing Claire Reading’s advice in January, we have seen significant growth each and every month. The support from the Regional Leadership, Plus and Leeds Market Centres really has made all the difference. I had to unlearn a lot of bad habits and relearn the Keller Williams way, which is much more customer focused, and the results of doing so were transformational.”

So far this year, George and Sue have secured 26 listings and were recently approached to manage lettings, an entirely new arm of their business. As such, they’ve brought on their first team member as well and an assistant to manage bookings and administration.

There’s a clear split of work, with George managing off-market and investment properties, as well as all viewings, whilst Sue carries the deal forward from the point of sale and manages administration. But the couple carry out every valuation together. George explained why:

“We do things this way because we haven’t lost many valuations that we have carried out together. I think people like the dynamic between us; we bounce off each other. I suppose that’s what happens when you’ve been as married as long as we have!”

The couple are not only reaping the rewards of a successful business, but also enjoying the flexibility it gives them. With Sue now believing herself to be “unemployable” now that’s she’s used to being her own boss, the couple have control over their own time and the ability to spend it with their new grandchild. And that’s their biggest success so far. The couple also appreciate the way they’ve become better known in the local community.

When asked what advice they’d give someone looking to start their own business, Sue answered:

“Do your research and be prepared to work hard. And if you’re starting your business with Keller Williams, read the big red book once a quarter. That’s what I’ve been doing and I find something invaluable each and every time I read it. It’s not rocket science. We’ve done the training, implemented what we’ve learned and made a success of it. Consistency is key.”

George’s answer was a little more philosophical:

“The opportunity is far greater than your fear of doing. Since starting this journey we haven’t looked back.”

George and Sue are a sterling example of what it means to live a life by design and that, with a little hard work, can be achieved with the Keller Williams way.

The Academy, which launches in July, will provide delegates with the training, skills, and certifications to start and run their own Estate Agency business. Students will commit to a blend of online training and learning tasks which can be completed outside of normal working hours, allowing the possibility for participants to continue working full-time while they attend, should they wish to. Students will kick start their journey with a dynamic launch day, where they’ll meet their new colleagues as well as network with existing Keller Williams agents and industry professionals.

Keller Williams is the world’s largest Real Estate network of entrepreneurs, with over 200,000 associates based across 58 countries. KW is an industry leader when it comes to technology, training, and investment in its people – and this latest initiative defines its commitment to the future of the industry.

We put the control back into the hands of our agents – and the academy will demonstrate the pathway to success. I recommend that anyone interested read more about the programme and if it feels right for you, submit an application while places remain available.”

The countdown for Red Day 2023 is on

The countdown for Red Day 2023 is on

Every second Thursday of May, Keller Williams agents, leadership members, and associates from across the globe step away from daily business duties, proudly donning their red KW gear, and venturing into the communities they serve with three goals in mind: renew, energise, donate.

Known as Red Day, this annual day of service launched in May 2009. Fourteen years later, it continues to grow in momentum as the Keller Williams family unites under a shared commitment to philanthropy. This year’s Red Day will take place on Thursday 11thof May with plans underway for participation across the UK.

A Legacy Worth Leaving

Keller Williams’ mission is one rooted in building a life by design for yourself and those around you: build careers worth having, businesses worth owning, lives worth living, experiences worth giving, and legacies worth leaving. Pouring into their communities goes beyond just business for Keller Williams agents. In fact, it is an essential part of the KW lifeblood and culture.

Throughout the years, associates have built homes from the ground up, gathered and distributed food to those in need, donated blood, and raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities near and dear to their hearts and the hearts of their communities.

Our centres and agents across the UK are busily making final plans for next week’s Red Day and we can’t wait to share more in the coming weeks. At KWUK we believe Red Day is more than just a day, it’s a way of life – and we’re proud that our associates give back daily to good causes across the UK. From supporting local hospices with the groundwork for a patients garden, offering time and collecting food for local food banks and also donating blood – our associates are truly making a difference locally   next Thursday.

Ben Taylor, CEO of KWUK, shares “The heart of KW globally is our unique culture; we’re agent-focused and people-focused all around the globe. On the 11th of May is Red Day, where 200,000 associates from across the world in more than 58 countries will be giving their time and efforts to serve their local communities. Red Day is about “renewing, energising and donating”. It truly is one of my favourite days of the year. I am grateful to our leadership teams in our centres across the UK as well as our extraordinary agent communities for their commitment and energy on this special day each year.”
