Having spent a wonderful afternoon with the current owners in their first home together, they took great pleasure in sharing with me how they have found living in Pilgrim’s Hatch as the perfect balance of village meets town/city life, which they say has let them enjoy the best of all worlds whilst creating some very fond memories for them to treasure.

Looking at the location of the property you get a sense of what they mean, as you have a very short drive or comfortable walk to the vibrancy of Brentwood town centre in one direction (not forgetting the Calcott Hall farm shop on the doorstep with local, fresh, organic produce). Whilst the other way leads you to the Weald, which is great for long walks, along with some fabulous local places to dine, such as The Black Horse and the very fashionable Blue Crown (now The Royal Rose) and the legendary Alec’s restaurant. There are also some lovely secluded and quiet locations in this direction leading you out towards the Essex countryside.

Downstairs there is a bright, dual aspect lounge with a large bay window and feature fireplace that is just perfect for those cosy winter movie nights. Moving along you come to the centre of this home with a wonderful dining room made for entertaining and family meals, overlooking the garden through the patio doors, which lead to the covered veranda, elevated from the rest of the garden. Next to the dining room is a well-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar and separate utility room. Also on this floor is a very convenient downstairs cloakroom along with some wonderfully created storage under the stairs.

Moving upstairs you will find a bright, main bedroom with an excellent en-suite bathroom and three further bedrooms of which one is currently being used as an office. There is also a lovely family bathroom on this floor.

Outside the property benefits from off-street parking to the side of the house in front of the attached garage and a charming two-tiered back garden. The garden is blessed with a covered patio perfect for al-fresco dining and a decked veranda overlooking a well-maintained lawn and shrubs to the border.

The current owners say..

“It’s great being able to get to London in such a short space of time (even quicker with the Crossrail coming) especially Westfield Stratford which is just a short and easy train ride away. Yet it’s nice to be away from the busy and crowded city but still be able to travel there at the drop of a hat and also live in a small and friendly location at the same time. If we don’t fancy getting the train into London there are still lots of places to go to either directly here in Brentwood or nearby in Billericay or Ongar, so the options are endless.”

“We have been blessed with the most welcoming and friendly neighbours. We've been very happy living here and will be sad to leave. We have lovingly looked after the house over the years, making some small improvements to build a cosy and desirable home that we are very proud of, and we hope another family can enjoy as much as us, making some wonderful new memories.”

The Brentwood area is served by some great schools with the closest being the fantastic Larchwood Primary School, which is rated as outstanding by Ofsted.

The nearest rail stations are Brentwood and Shenfield both less than a couple of miles away, providing frequent trains to London Liverpool Street. Shenfield will be the eastern terminus of Crossrail when it finally makes its long-awaited debut. Crossrail will carry passengers from Shenfield, through central London and then out to the west via Heathrow, terminating at Reading.
