A quote from the present owner

"I bought Chapel Street because I was so charmed by the character and potential of the property. When I bought the house, I was keen to re-establish the original features and breathe life into the property again. I have loved living here and am sorry to be selling (if I could pick up the house and take it with me, I definitely would!). Tiverton is a lovely town to live in with such sweet people and fantastic independent stores; you never go short of things to do on the weekend. The ability to pop into town or to the supermarket is so handy and makes life easy to live here. I am excited for someone new to take on the 'curatorship' of this lovely old place and make their mark on the history of this house."

This red brick, period property is striking from the outside and spacious and modern within. Grade II listed, it has two entrances, a bright red door on the street front and a second side door accessed under its distinctive archway. Dating from c. 1870 the property has many of the character features of this time including high ceilings, picture rails and original fireplaces.

Entering through the street door and along a downstairs hallway the living room, is to the right. This makes a cosy front room with an open fireplace (with original surround), picture rails and sash windows with secondary glazing. Following the entrance hall leads through to a wonderful open plan kitchen/dining room with exposed brickwork and twin original fireplaces. The room has been recently renovated and the kitchen area has tasteful, fitted units and worksurfaces. Off the kitchen is a windowed boot room, with a shelf and tiled floor, a perfect out-of-the-way area for storing cleaning equipment, recycling bins and muddy wellies. A second door opening on to the drive is accessible through the boot room.
The dining area has plenty of space for a 6-seater table and a door to a good-sized fitted cupboard. Back in the entrance hall are the stairs to the first floor, which is more sizable than the floor below due to the additional room over the arch. The first-floor hosts four double bedrooms, a landing (from which the loft is accessed) and a family bathroom with bath and shower. Of the bedrooms one has built in units, a second has a feature fireplace (with marble surround) and the third and fourth are good-sized rooms linked together by an adjoining door, making them ideal for parents with young children or family members wanting semi-autonomous combined bedroom-study/playroom. The loft is half-boarded.
Outside there is a generous garden with mature shrubs and trees (including some excellent apple trees). The plot includes a car port and an outbuilding. Planning permission was approved for the conversion of the carport to a garage and the outbuilding to an office.
