From the moment we walked into this beautiful home we were in love with all it had to offer! Now that’s not the owner’s words, that’s ours, and in all honesty whatever we have to say will not do this fantastic house justice, so let’s see what the current owners have to say.

“We’ve lived at 45 Alfred Road for five happy years and we’re reluctantly moving now due to having a second child on the way! When we purchased the property, we fell in love with the picturesque church backdrop that provides a stunning view from the garden and two back bedrooms – all through the year.

The location couldn’t be better, it takes us nine minutes to get to Brentwood station and the High Street is a stone’s throw away. It is also very well positioned for all the best schools in the area and has the lovely Spread Eagle pub just moments from the front door.

Downstairs there’s an open plan living room, dining area and kitchen providing the perfect space for a young family to be together, as well as offering the adaptability to use the space for different occasions, including a modern breakfast bar perfect for parties, with an extending dining area to cater to having larger gatherings here too.

When we moved in, we opened-up the original brick fireplace to make a real standout feature in the room. Other work inside includes a high spec kitchen, custom made shaker units, an induction Siemens hob with built in Wi-Fi controlled oven and built-in microwave, with integrated dishwasher and washing machine included.

We hired an interior designer who has positioned all the lighting downstairs on movable spotlights, which can also all be dimmed, to direct and perfect the mood lighting of your choice. An oak wood floor has also been laid since we moved in, as has the custom-made media unit in the lounge, which houses the TV, with cupboard space on either side to put coats, shoes, and toys neatly away.

We’ve also had plantation shutters fitted throughout the property which add a fresh and modern touch.

Upstairs, we stripped back the carpet to reveal the original wooden flooring and we carpeted the stairs and small back bedroom which can be used as a walk-in wardrobe, a baby’s nursery or as it is now – the perfect home office!

Unlike other two-bedroom cottages, the upstairs layout appealed to us as it offers lots of secret nooks and crannies to store possessions. Two double bedrooms means there is enough space to comfortably live as a small family, with the bonus of the third small room.

The bathroom offers an additional utility space, currently housing two chests of drawers, but with potential to fit a washer/dryer or convert into a walk-in wardrobe should you wish.

And we’ve had the garden done – decking at one end makes the perfect space for BBQs in the summer and the all-weather artificial grass makes for a low maintenance area to enjoy all year round – no lawnmowers required! We also had a traditional white picket fence put up at the front of the property and painted the front door.

Neighbourhood wise and you couldn’t wish to live anywhere nicer. We are a close and safe community on Alfred Road, with a WhatsApp group to share important information (about bin days for example!) and we all really pulled together during lockdown having little outside gatherings and supporting those who were vulnerable.

This is a very quiet road; we don’t get through traffic and the carpark at the end of the road can be used as a parking overspill. You will be given two permits per house to use in Zone B if you live here, for a small cost, and we always find spaces on the road or the ones nearby. We really hope you enjoy living here as much as we have!”

Brentwood offers the best of town and country. From the amazing country parks – to the high street stores, bars and restaurants, not to mention the wonderful independent shops on Crown Street - it’s a brilliant place to be!”

Brentwood rail station is a short walk away and provides frequent trains to London Liverpool Street and Shenfield. Shenfield will also be the eastern terminus of Crossrail when it finally makes its long-awaited debut later this year. Crossrail will carry passengers from Shenfield, through central London and then out to the west via Heathrow, terminating at Reading.
